Leanna here, welcome to The Hungry Waitress! This blog has been my online home since 2016. It’s where I share and archive family recipes, recipes I have created and some lessons I have learned in the kitchen. It’s been my learning tool and has lifted me out of many ruts. You could even say it has changed my life because … well it has so far! Here’s a little context:
Back in 2011 I graduated with a marketing degree, and like most students, I had no idea what I wanted to do with my life. So, I started waiting tables and I fell in love with the restaurant industry. I could work nights, sleep during the day (I’m a night owl) and I met so many interesting and wonderful people (including my husband).
I waited tables for nine years! NINE YEARS!! It’s crazy to think about now. After you work in a place for nine years the romance of it all wears off, and I realized I was stuck. I past the window to use my degree to get a job since my resume only consisted of restaurant work. So, I decided to take some web design classes at a community college.
I was hooked. I love design, art and being creative in any capacity, so web and graphic design became the perfect compliment to my marketing degree. I wanted to get a job full time as a web or graphic designer but I had no portfolio or experience. So I decide to start this blog to get me out of the restaurant rut and into the next phase of my life.
Cut to … the blog has become my passion and creative outlet, and I hope one day it will be my full time gig!
I hope you enjoy my little piece of home!
